    The public dental health system in Victoria is a multi-faceted system of programs which aim to improve and enhance the oral health of Victorians through a range of services including:

  • The Early Childhood Oral Health Program
  • The School Dental Program
  • The Youth Dental Program
  • The Community Dental Program
  • Special Needs Programs
  • Specialist Care


    Rewarding and challenging clinical opportunities

    The public dental health system provides dental professionals with a broad range of clinical opportunities, working with a variety of clinical settings, patients and programs.

    Dental professionals work in a variety of settings including:
  • Schools
  • Universities
  • Community clinics
  • Mobile dental clinics
  • Royal Dental Hospital of Melbourne and other hospitals
  • Residential care facilities

    All dental professionals are supported by experienced clinical mentors and are offered a number of professional development opportunities.

    Our clinicians make a significant contribution to improving the oral health of Victorians, particularly low income earners and other disadvantaged groups. Work as a part of a multidisciplinary team in one of our 60 clinics throughout metropolitan and rural Victoria to treat a diverse range of community groups.
