Dental Health Services Victoria
Established in 1996, DHSV is the leading public dental agency in Victoria. Our service is strongly committed to providing high quality, safe and accessible care to all eligible Victorians. Our staff help thousands of Victorians improve their oral health and well being every year.
With a workforce of more than 800 professionals, DHSV provides dental care to eligible Victorians through the Royal Dental Hospital of Melbourne, the School Dental Service, and the Ballarat, Hamilton, Ozanam, Wangaratta and Warrnambool Adult Dental Clinics.
The Royal Dental Hospital of Melbourne (RDHM), located at 720 Swanston Street in Carlton, Melbourne, is the state's leading teaching facility for dental professionals. It provides emergency, general and specialist care for concession cardholders and dependents.
The School Dental Service offers dental care to all primary school children and eligible adolescents in years seven and eight, in fixed and mobile dental clinics across the state.
DHSV's adult dental clinics provide general dental care for concession cardholders and dependents. Ozanam Community Dental Clinic also provides dental services for adults with special needs.
In 2004-2005, more than 182,126 adults and 107,085 children from rural, regional and metropolitan areas of Victoria received general and specialist care from DHSV.
The organisation is also responsible for purchasing dental services from approximately 60 community dental agencies located in community health centres and some rural public hospitals located across the state.
